The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in its recent study mentioned that mixing and matching of COVID-19 vaccines, namely Covaxin and Covishield, showed better results.

As per the ICMR study, “Immunisation with combination of an adenovirus vector platform-based vaccine followed by inactivated whole virus vaccine was not only safe but also elicited better immunogenicity.”

Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Serum Institute’s Covishield were the first two COVID-19 vaccines to receive emergency use approval in India and are the most widely used in the country.

The study is yet to be peer reviewed.
