The Indian and Israeli Governments have granted the partners with funding to deploy medical imaging AI across India and increase tuberculosis screening capabilities in rural areas
Apollo Hospitals and Zebra Medical Vision, the deep learning imaging analytics company, have received a grant from governments of India and Israel for a new $4.9 million project that will validate and deploy AI in hospitals across India. This collaboration is designated to early spot life-threatening diseases and promote preventative treatment. Health Net Global LTD will work with Apollo Hospital Network to execute this grant.
The partnership will capitalise on the advancements already achieved by Zebra-med in developing dozens of AI tools, and will further validate them before deployment at scale across India. The arsenal of products include deep learning algorithms for the detection of acute conditions such as brain bleeds in head CTs and pneumothorax in chest X-rays, detection of breast cancer in mammograms, signs of osteoporosis in CT scans, and 40 other conditions that were extracted from the Zebra-Med breakthrough Textray publication, in which over two million chest X-rays were used to train the AI. In addition, the partners will collaborate to utilise the Textray network to screen for tuberculosis (TB) in Apollo’s 71 locations as well as in India’s rural communities.
“We are excited to partner with the leading healthcare brand in India and to bring AI to India at such scale, said Eyal Gura, Co-founder and CEO, Zebra-Medical. When we met the Apollo team for the first time a few years ago, we found mutual ground and mutual dreams of how to scale healthcare from millions to billions of patients. We are honored that the two governments placed this trust in us and are committed to utilising AI to impact millions of lives.”
“The Innovation Authority believes that this partnership can make a strong impact on the health of the citizens of India and an enabler for Modicare’s vision by offering early diagnosis and enabling preventative care to millions across the country, says Aharon Aharon, CEO, Israel Innovation Authority.
“Zebra Medical Vision is one of Israel’s groundbreaking innovators in the healthcare field contributing to the wellbeing of people across the globe.”
