STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Challenger Cricket Club, Singh Cricket Club and Khour Cricket Club registered win against their opponent teams and entered in the next round in the ongoing Police Friendship Cricket Tournament, organised by District Police Jammu for rural youths at Country Cricket Stadium Gharota, here on Wednesday. Earlier in the first match, Challenger Cricket Club defeated Ranjan Cricket Club by 35 runs. Batting first Challenger Club, scored 119 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 16 overs with Rajesh 20 runs, Vinod 16 runs and Jimmy 14 runs. For Ranjan Club, Sunit and Karan shared three wickets each while Rahul took one. In reply, Ranjan Cricket Club could not chase the target and made only 84 runs in 16 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Arun with 17, Pawan 16 and Rahul 12 were the main scorers. For Challenger Club, Rajinder with his deadly spell grabbed six wickets of opponent while Rajesh claimed one. Rajinder was declared as Man of the Match. In another match, Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor defeated Thathi Cricket Club by 23 runs. Batting first Singh Cricket Club made 130 runs for the loss of five wickets in 18 overs. Sumit played a fine inning of 63 runs while Manik Sharma contributed 25. For Thathi Club, Karan claimed two wickets while Sahil and Vikas shared one each. In reply, Thathi Cricket Club failed to chase the target and managed to score only 107 runs in 17.3 overs for the loss of ten wickets. Rahil with 24 and Anil 22 runs were the main scorers. For Singh Club, Sham Singh picked two wickets while Sunil, Happy, Somu, Sumit and Ankush shared apiece each. For his all-round performance, Sumit was adjudged as Man of the Match. In third match of the day, Khour Club defeated FCC Bhalwal by 93 runs. Batting first, Khour Club scored 155 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 16 overs. Rahul was the top scorer with 45 runs while Kavi and Panku added 31 and 23 runs respectively to the total. For FCC Bhalwal, Iqbal scalped four wickets, Gourav took two and Ashwani and Kailash shared apiece each. In reply, FCC Bhalwal failed to chase the target and was bundled out for a mere 62 runs in 12.2 overs. Gourav was the only batsman who reach double figure with 14 runs. For Khour Club, Chikku and Mania pocked two wickets each while Kavi, Rahul, Mannu, Karan and Pankaj shared one each. Rahul was declared as Man of the Match. Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Dayal, Ankit Sharma and Avinash.
