Tata & Mahindra Overtake Hyundai In Retail Sales, Pushing The Brand Out Of The Top 3 In Retail Sales

Mahindra and Tata Motors have overtaken Hyundai in terms of retail vehicle sales and pushed the South Korean automaker out of the Top 3 in April 2025 sales figures. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association’s retail sales figures, Mahindra takes the 2nd spot ahead of Tata Motors in 3rd and behind Maruti Suzuki in 1st spot.

The leaders, Maruti Suzuki, maintain 1st position with a 39.44% market share. However, the Japanese automaker has seen a decline in market share from 40.39% in the same month last year. Mahindra has been able to solidify its position in the market by increasing its market share from 11.23% last year to 13.23% this year. Mahindra sold 48,405 units (25.03% Year-on-Year growth) in April 2025.

Tata Motors and Hyundai have witnessed a decline in Year-On-Year growth in April 2025. Tata Motors has a 12.59% market share, which is a decrease from 13.61% in April 2024.
Hyundai has seen a sharper decline in market share from 14.29% in April 2024 to 12.47% in April 2025.

Hyundai has recorded retail sales of 43,692 vehicles in April 2025, which is a 11.37% Year-on-Year decline. It is important to note that despite the reduction, Hyundai Creta was the highest-selling car in India in April 2025.
