Madikeri: The national-level Coorg Challenge Off Road Rally was hosted in the paddy fields of Ratan Estate in Kunda village.
The competition featured various categories, including Expert Diesel Class, Expert Petrol Class, SUV Class, Jimny Class, Thar Class, and Ladies Class. The challenging terrain with deep potholes created an intense experience for participants. An unique aspect was the transformation of a lake into a rally track. Spectators were entertained by vehicles navigating steep climbs. The vehicles faced significant challenges while manoeuvring through massive potholes. The excitement peaked when vehicles balanced precariously on two wheels before continuing their journey.
The rally commenced with an aerial shot by distinguished participants: senior rallyist Maletira Jagat Nanjappa, rallyist Uddapanda Chethan Chengappa, and hockey player Chendanda Nikhin Thimmaiah. Businessman Gummattir Kilan Ganapathy noted that the presence of national rallyists serves as inspiration for emerging talents. He highlighted how the excellent choice of venue has everyone's drawn attention.
The event was attended by Sibi Paul, coffee cultivators Patrangada Dhani Ratan, Patrangada Somanna, and organiser Patrangada Srimanth Muthanna. Sunday's competition was in Ratan Estate Coffee plantation featuring NDMS Class, Modified Diesel Class, Modified Petrol, and Modified Open Class categories.
