Four persons from Kerala were killed and three others injured after the van in which they were travelling and a government bus collided head-on at Karuvepancheri in Tiruvarur district on Sunday.
Police sources said a group of seven persons was proceeding to Velankanni in Nagapattinam district from Thiruvananthapuram in a van when their vehicle and the government bus coming from the opposite direction collided at Karuvepancheri in the morning.
Four persons were killed on the spot in the impact of the collision and three others who sustained injuries were admitted to hospital. Police identified the deceased as R. Sajunath, 27, vehicle driver, R. Rajesh, 34, R. Rahul, 29, and R. Sajuth, 37, from Nelimedu and Kottakkal in Kerala.
Edaiyur police are investigating.
