VIP to play key role in state politics: Sahani
Motihari: Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani on Sunday claimed that the opposition alliance would win 18 out of 21 assembly seats in East Champaran and West Champaran in the upcoming elections. He added that the VIP would play a key role in the state's political landscape in the coming years.
Speaking to reporters, Sahani said, "We have joined politics not just for power, but to bring change in society. The VIP represents all sections of society that are still marginalised."
He welcomed the Centre's decision to conduct a caste census, describing it as a victory for socialists and the cause of social justice. "The caste census is not just a game of numbers, it will become a historic document for social justice. This will pave the way for ensuring that the majority of the country's population receives its rightful share. The participation of deprived sections in the politics of this country will not only increase but will also be reflected in power and policy-making," Sahani said.
He also criticised Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan over his recent remarks on the caste census. "His statement makes it clear that he is not serious about the issue. He should understand that his politics is based on social justice, and his father fought hard for rights. How can he now speak of hiding caste statistics…and for what purpose?" Sahani asked.
On Saturday, Sahani had addressed a meeting of party workers at Gandhi Auditorium, where attendees from six districts participated. He reiterated that the VIP is ready to emerge as a strong alternative in the upcoming elections.
