The Sira police have arrested a 45-year-old habitual offender and recovered ₹9.7 lakh worth of gold valuables from him.
The accused, Manjunath, a resident of Arkalgud in Hassan district, allegedly targeted women visiting the local temple fair on April 14 and made away with three gold chains weighing 108 grams.
Based on the complaint from one of the victims, the police tracked down the accused and seized the valuables.
