Cybercrime case registered for defaming Telangana chief minister on social media
Hyderabad: The cyber crime police have registered a criminal case against a social media user for posting offensive content targeting Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy.
On Tuesday, Kailash Sajjan, state secretary of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee's (TPCC) social media department, lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad cyber crime police against a social media account for allegedly sharing morphed and derogatory content aimed at the CM.

According to the complaint, an account on X with the handle "DigtvTelugu" posted an edited image portraying CM Revanth in an objectionable manner, alongside other Congress leaders including Fahim Qureshi, chairman of the Telangana Food and Supplies Corporation. The post included captions mocking the political figures.
Sajjan stated that the content was "fake, morphed, vulgar, abusive and derogatory", and claimed it was posted with "malicious intent to defame the CM and the Congress party." He further alleged that the account holder is a "habitual troublemaker" seeking to incite public hatred against the govt.
Based on his complaint, a case was registered under Sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 353(2) (statements conducive to public mischief), and 336(4) (forgery for the purpose of harming reputation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The cyber crime police stated they would write to X to obtain details of the content uploader.
