Woman stabbed to death by live-in partner
Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner in Kakarjala village of Mahbubnagar district on Wednesday. The victim, K Geetanjali, originally from Mallaboinpally village in Jadcherla mandal, had separated from her husband three years ago and was in a relationship with Sreeram Naresh, 32, a private worker from Kollur village.
According to Geetanjali's mother, Neelamma, her daughter began living with Naresh about two years ago, and the couple had a daughter together. However, Naresh had recently distanced himself from the family and stopped supporting them.
On Tuesday, Geetanjali visited Naresh in Kollur to discuss their relationship. Neelamma and her elder daughter, Kalamma, also went there the next day to talk to members of Naresh's community about the couple's future. However, they were told to discuss the matter later.
While returning to their village, Neelamma said she saw Naresh speaking to Geetanjali on his bike. Later, she was shocked to see a photo of her daughter's body being circulated in local WhatsApp groups. Geetanjali was found dead in an agricultural field in Kakarjala with stab wounds to her stomach, chilli powder in her eyes, and her stole tied around her neck.
Neelamma alleged that Naresh murdered her daughter to avoid responsibility.
Based on her complaint, Mahbubnagar rural CI Gandhi Nayak said police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Nawabpet police station. Naresh has been taken into custody and will be produced in court on Friday.
