Nitish inaugurates sports facilities at Rajgir academy ahead of Khelo India Youth Games
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated sports facilities at the newly constructed Rajgir Sports Academy-cum-Sports University in Nalanda district, ahead of the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, which begin on May 4.
The Rajgir campus will be one of the state's key venues for the national games. PM Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the event via videoconference. Initially, the PM was scheduled to visit Patna for the inauguration following a request from CM Nitish.
During his visit, Nitish reviewed preparations for the games, inspecting the grounds and athletic tracks. He praised the arrangements and urged officials to ensure the event is conducted effectively.
Among the newly inaugurated facilities were indoor hall no. 2, basketball, handball and volleyball courts and a hockey practice turf. Addressing the players in training, Nitish encouraged them to "move forward in life".
He also enquired about the amenities available in the boys' and girls' hostels.
Later, the CM inspected the Bihar Police Academy and visited the model police station and swimming pool. He interacted with Jeevika members who had stitched uniforms for the police personnel.
Nitish also toured the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory where he inaugurated its fourth lab.
He was accompanied by deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, rural development minister Shravan Kumar, building construction minister Jayant Raj, sports minister Surendra Mehta and environment, forest and climate change minister Sunil Kumar, among others.
