A 28-year-old youth, S. Thavitturajan, of Chinnaramalingapuram near Sivakasi was electrocuted due to lightning strike on Friday evening.
Police said that the deceased was part of a group of construction workers involved in building a cracker shop at Chinnaramalingapuram near Perapatti. Even as the work was going on, it suddenly started to rain in and around Sivakasi at around 4 p.m. The thunderstorm was accompanied by frequent lightning. Suddenly, lightning struck near the under-construction building in which Thavitturajan was killed on the spot.
Sivakasi East police are investigating.
