Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and an oil and gas enterprise, has announced that Sanjay Khanna has taken over additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director of the company. Khanna currently serves as Director (Refineries) at BPCL.
A seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in refinery operations and technical services, Khanna is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli, and holds a postgraduate degree in Finance Management from Mumbai University.
Throughout his career, Khanna has led several strategic projects, including the development of new process units across BPCL’s refineries in Mumbai, Kochi, and Numaligarh. Prior to his current Board role, he successfully headed BPCL’s Kochi and Mumbai Refineries. Notably, as Executive Director of Kochi Refinery, he played a pivotal role in commissioning the company’s first niche petrochemical initiative — the Propylene Derivative Petrochemical Project (PDPP).
In addition to his responsibilities at BPCL, Sanjay Khanna also serves as a Director on the Boards of Bharat Petro Resources Limited and Ratnagiri Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited. He currently chairs the Technical Committee for Petroleum Refineries under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).
His leadership is expected to drive BPCL’s continued growth and innovation in India’s rapidly evolving energy sector.
