2 rly workers run over by train in Sawai Madhopur
Jaipur: Two railway employees were killed Wednesday when an express train struck them near Chhoti Udai station in Sawai Madhopur district. The incident occurred when the workers attempted to avoid an approaching freight train and moved to an adjacent track, unaware that the pass-enger train was heading towards them.
The tragic accident took place on the Delhi-Mumbai railway line in the Gangapur City area. Technician Govardhan Saini, 28, and helper Dinesh Meena, 35, both residents of nearby villages, were working on one of the railway lines when the freight train approached.
To get out of its way, they moved to a parallel track, not realising that the Kota-Patna Express was approaching on that line. The train hit them and both men died on the spot. Their bodies were severely mutilated in the impact.
Following the accident, the express train was halted for nearly an hour. The govt railway police (GRP) team arrived at the scene, collected and transported the remains to a nearby govt hospital. A medical board conducted the post-mortem, after which the bodies were handed over to the families.
