Mohali: Four cases of sexual assault, including one of gang rape, were registered in Mohali on Wednesday. In three of these cases, men allegedly raped women on the pretext of marriage.
Police have registered separate cases under relevant sections and arrested an accused in one case.
In Nayagaon, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by unknown persons on April 27, 2025. She alleged that two unidentified men contacted her through social media and began threatening her. They coerced her into meeting them at a location they specified, where they allegedly committed the rape. After informing her father, she underwent a medical examination at a govt hospital, confirming the assault. A case was registered against the unknown men.
In another rape case in Nayagaon, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped on the pretext of marriage. Based on her statement, police filed a case against Himanshu, a resident of Sector 28, Chandigarh.
At Kharar City police stationm an FIR was against Davinder Singh from Bibiwala village, Batala. A 32-year-old woman accused him of raping her on the pretext of marriage. Meanwhile, Phase-1 police filed a case against Prabhjot Singh from Nabha, Patiala, based on the statement of a 25-year-old woman. Prabhjot, who was in contact with the victim for five years, allegedly raped her multiple times by promising marriage and later refused to marry her.
