The police so far have not found any evidence about 35-year-old Ashraf raising pro-pakistan slogan resulting in his lynching by a mob in Kudupu in Mangaluru on April 27, said Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal on Thursday.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Agrawal said eyewitnesses who can substantiate the actual reason for mob lynching were yet to be found. The accused persons and witnesses have stated about witnessing assault of Ashraf. The accused have seen co-accused Sachin beating Ashraf and they too, out of herd mentality, have joined in assaulting Ashraf, he said.

In addition to 20 persons who have been arrested, Mr. Agrawal said one more person has been secured. Search was on for remaining accused persons. Notices were served to 15 persons, who have been called to record statements in connection with the incident, he said.
