Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav on Wednesday urged the BJP government to roll back the price rise of ₹2 per litre on Mother Dairy milk. The BJP has not responded to the Congress’s request.

Mr. Yadav said that since the BJP government came to power in February, it has been inflicting “heavy financial burden” on the people without fulfilling its poll promises.

“The price hike by Mother Dairy is an attempt to snatch milk from the mouths of poor children. The government should forthwith roll back the price hike,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mother Dairy has attributed the price hike to rising procurement cost of milk from dairy farmers. “The procurement costs have gone up by ₹4-5 per litre over the past few months,” a Mother Dairy official said.
