Noida: A former domestic help and a driver of a businessman have been arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery worth over Rs 1 crore and Rs 5 lakh in cash from their employer's house while the family was away for dinner.
The duo, who were once trusted insiders, used their knowledge of the home and daily routines to execute the crime with precision and escape undetected — until CCTV footage gave them away, cops said.

The accused, Samarjit (19) is from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, and Sandeep Singh (29), from Gorakhpur. The two of them lived in Sector 49 and had been on the run since the theft, cops said. Samarjit had worked as a domestic help at businessman Saurabh Jain's house for over two years before he was fired two months ago. Sandeep, Jain's driver, remained employed and continued to provided daily updates on the family's whereabouts.
According to police, Samarjit used a master key he had stolen before leaving the job to access the house.
On the night of the theft, he disguised himself in women's clothes and covered his face with a mask to avoid detection. "Sandeep informed him that the family had gone out. Samarjit used the master key, entered the house, looted cash and jewellery from the cupboard, then locked the doors and escaped by jumping over the wall," said additional DCP (Noida) Sumit Shukla.
"Jain reported a major theft from his residence recently. A team was formed to investigate, and CCTV footage played a key role in identifying the accused," Shukla added. Police said the accused were trying to flee to Bihar and were also in touch with goldsmiths to sell the stolen jewellery.
An FIR has been registered The two have been booked under BNS sections 305A (theftin a dwelling house), 331(4) (house trespass and house-breaking), and 317(2) (handling stolen property), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
