Three held with suspected MDMA in Kannur

The police arrested a woman and two men for smuggling suspected MDMA in a car near Edat Payyanur College stop early on Wednesday (April 30, 2025) morning. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by inspector K.P. Sreehari along with sub-inspectors P. Yadukrishnan and K. Hemanth Kumar arrested the trio around 2.45 a.m.

The arrested are P. Prajitha, 29, of Edat Thuruthi Road, Kunhimangalam, K.P. Shijindas, 34, of Edat, and P. Shahabas, 30, of Perumba Korom Road. The group was allegedly found in possession of 10.265 grams of MDMA concealed in a plastic cover inside the vehicle.

The police reportedly grew suspicious after noticing a car parked by the roadside and conducted a search. According to their statement, the accused claimed they had procured the MDMA from a man named Shafique, a resident of Thrissur. Further investigation is under way.
