Clarke County sheriff looking to fill deputy, jail positions at courthouse jobs event
The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office is holding a special job event on May 10 as it seeks to fill positions as deputies or detention officers.
The hiring event is an in-house gathering where job candidates can leave with a conditional offer of employment at the end of the day, according to an announcement from the sheriff’s office.
The program starts that morning with candidates performing physical agility testing in the courthouse, which will not be open for normal duties due to being a Saturday.

The physical tests include pushing a sled obstacle, running down the halls, and negotiating the stairs, according to the report.
Also a dummy pull exercise will challenge a person's ability to pull a duffle bag filled with 150 pounds of bricks to simulate dragging a body.
After these tests, candidates will go to the training center for a tour where questions can be posed, along with individual interviews.
Those interested in participating should send an email to sheriffrecruiting@accgov.com by Friday, May 1, to register.
