For the second time this month, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy’s residence and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research at Gorimedu received hoax bomb threat on Tuesday.

Along with the residence of the Chief Minister and Jipmer, miscreants also warned of explosives having been planted at the French Consulate, a temple built by the Chief Minister in the name of his spiritual guru at Gorimedu and a mosque in Mullah Street. After the police came to know about the email threats on Tuesday morning, the bomb detection and disposal squads were called in to conduct searches in all the four places, the police said.

While the Chief Minister’s residence and Jipmer received hoax bomb threat for the second time this month, the French Consulate had received a similar warning last year. This month, several other places, including Raj Nivas, Chief Minister’s office and prominent hotels had also received hoax bomb threats.
