Two TVK supporters held for damaging DMK flags in Coimbatore

The police arrested two supporters of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) — K. Chellamuthu, 26, and M. Manoj Kumar, 21, of Dindigul district — on the charge of damaging the flags of the DMK in Coimbatore on Saturday. They were arrested based on a complaint from a DMK worker. The complaint alleged that the duo had damaged the flags put up on the road near the airport to welcome Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who visited the city on Sunday.

The duo was arrested by the Peelamedu police and released on station bail.

TVK leader booked

The Peelamedu police registered a separate case against TVK Coimbatore district secretary V. Sambathkumar in connection with alleged the illegal assembly of party supporters at Coimbatore airport on Saturday. The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Lakshmi, Village Administrative Officer, Kalapatti west. She also complained that TVK cadres drove vehicles negligently and caused public nuisance. The police registered a case under Sections 126, 189 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 122, 127 of the Motor Vehicles Act and 71 of the Tamil Nadu City Police Act.
