Padma Awards 2025: Bollywood singer Arijit Singh, director Shekhar Kapur receives the honor

The Padma Awards 2025 is the most coveted awards celebrating the best in cinema and Indian music. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on April 28, amidst the benign presence of President Droupadi Murmu. She conferred the honor to ace filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, singer Arijit Singh, the late ghazal master Pankaj Udhas, singer Jaspinder Narula and actor Ashok Saraf for their exceptional work in Indian cinema and music.
Padma Awardees 2025
Shekhar Kapur, best known for Mr. India, Elizabeth and Bandit Queen, was awarded the Padma Bhushan. He equally gained prominence at the global platform through his range of scintillating films and storytelling.
Arijit Singh, one of the best musician of this generation is an indisputable winner of Padma Shri. He is known for many hits including Tum Hi Ho, Raabta, and Kesariya, among others. His voice has touched hearts across the world, making him the greatest of all time.
The late Pankaj Udhas, the legend of ghazals and Bollywood songs, was posthumously conferred the Padma Bhushan. The award was received by wife, Farida Pankaj Udhas, from the president. His excellent work in Indian music continue to strive as a legacy for future music composers and artists.
Singer Jaspinder Narula, was the 90s queen who won people with her power-packed voice. She has been conferred with Padma Shri known for Pyar To Hona Hi Tha and her range of devotional, folk, and pop hits.
Veteran actor Ashok Saraf, embraced for his comic timing and screen presence has worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He has been conferred with the Padma Shri. He gained stardom for his work in Singham and Karan Arjun
Beyond the aforementioned names, the other awardeed includes actor Nandamuri Balakrishna (Padma Bhushan), actor Anant Nag (Padma Bhushan), actor Ajith Kumar (Padma Bhushan), singer Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande (Padma Shri), music composer Ricky Kej (Padma Shri), folk singer Bheru Singh Chouhan (Padma Shri), devotional artist Harjinder Singh Srinagar Wale (Padma Shri), folk artist Joynacharan Bathari (Padma Shri), classical singer K Omanakutty Amma (Padma Shri), singer Mahabir Nayak (Padma Shri), and actress Mamata Shankar (Padma Shri).
