The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped and arrested a Sub-Inspector from the Shamirpet Police Station while accepting a bribe of ₹22,000 on Monday. ACB said that this was an add-on amount to the ₹2 lakh he accepted earlier.

An official release from the bureau said that at around 1.45 p.m. on Monday, Sub-Inspector M. Parashuram, was nabbed after he demanded and accepted ₹22,000 from a complainant. “The bribe was allegedly sought for excluding the complainant and his worker from a cheating case registered at Shamirpet Police Station and for returning the complainant’s mobile phone,” said the release.

Investigations have revealed that the officer had previously accepted ₹2 lakh from the same complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the officer following his own admission.

M. Parashuram has been arrested and will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. The case remains under investigation.

Citizens are urged to report any demand for bribes by public servants by calling the ACB’s toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made via WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X, formerly Twitter (@TelanganaACB). The identities of complainants will be kept confidential.
