Will point out denial of history in NCERT textbooks at New Delhi meeting: Minister

Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said that he will point out denial of history in the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks at a meeting of its general council in New Delhi on May 2.

Addressing mediapersons on Monday, the Minister said he would take part in the NCERT meeting to present his views. “Saffronisation of education would backfire. There could be no defence for removing historical events from textbooks,” he said.

There could also be no justification for withholding funds to the State under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. It was a clear violation of the Right to Education Act.

The SSLC results would be declared in the second week of May. Matters related to higher secondary examination results would be announced later.
