Amravati: "The post of Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Council is constitutional and carries the responsibility of establishing coordination. In view of this, it will be my endeavour to establish coordination with all stakeholders in the future," said Prof Ram Shinde, Speaker, Maharashtra Legislative Council, here on Saturday.
He was replying to the public felicitation accorded to him at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj auditorium this morning.
Maharashtra Revenue Minister and district guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MPs Balwant Wankhade and Anil Bonde and all the MLAs and MLCs of the district were present on the occasion.
"The post has given me the responsibility of doing people's work. This has given me new energy to work constructively in the future," Shinde said.
Spelling out the works he proposes to take up, Shinde said that various works concerning the tri-centenary of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar will chiefly be taken up.
Recalling the great work done by Ahilyadevi for temples, Dharmashalas and Ghats at Kanshi Vishweshwar and Kedarnath, Shinde said that efforts will be made to renovate these temples. "In recognition of her good work Solapur university has been named after her," he said and added that the Dhangar community's just demands will be supported.
Stating that the party has got a youth leader in the form of Prof Shinde, Bawankule showered praise upon him and said that various developmental works would be taken up for the welfare of the society through him.
Stating that Shinde never leaves the House when it is in session until the entire business is transacted, Bawankule said that he has created his imprint by establishing coordination between Legislative members and the govt.
Bawankule said that framing of laws in the Legislature is necessary for resolving every issue confronting the society and in this exercise Prof Ram Shinde's role assumes importance.
Rajyasabha MP Anil Bonde, Amravati MP Balwant Wankhade, MLC Kiran Sarnaik and MLAs Sulbha Khodke and Ravi Rana also spoke.
At the outset, condolences were paid to Pahalgam terror attack victims.
