Elizabeth City State University on lockdown Sunday morning following ‘incident’

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — Campus officials with Elizabeth City State University said the campus was on lockdown Sunday morning following an incident. Students have been asked to shelter in place.

10 On Your Side is working to learn what that incident was.

In a Facebook post, the officials said the incident happened on-campus at 12:30 a.m.

They went on to write, “The safety and well-being of our campus community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.”

On Saturday at 8 p.m., students gathered at the Quad on-campus for a portion of the university’s annual ‘Viking Fest Yardfest’.
