Awareness programme on gender equity and workplace safety held at Tirunelveli law college

Tirunelveli District Judiciary organised an awareness programme on gender equity, gender equality, women empowerment and prevention of sexual harassment of women in the work place at the government law college in Tirunelveli on Saturday.

Principal District Judge M. Saisaravanan presided over the event in the presence of Tirunelveli Corporation Commissioner N.O. Sukhaputra and District Judge, (Family Court) Thirumagal. I Additional District Judge V. Padmanabhan, III Additional District Judge T. Paneerselvam also participated.

Following the inaugural event, a series of panel discussions were held as part of the event. The first session at the event featured a talk on “Fostering a Respectful and Inclusive Workplace: Best Practices and Responsibilities” by S. Antony Jayaprakash, Founder of JP Mindz Refurb followed by the second session that focused on the topic “Women in Workplace: Opportunities, Challenges and Industry -Wide Impacts” elaborated by E.D. Priyadharshini, a professor.

The third session at the event addressed “The Gender Gap in Workplace Safety: Confronting Harassment and Discrimination” by S.S. Ponsakthikala, a professor, and the fourth session discussed the topic of “How a woman can empower herself” by Lily Anad, a psychotherapist from Tirunelveli.

Women employees from various government departments, private organisations and students of the college participated.
