Truck helper found dead under mysterious circumstances in Zirakpur
Mohali: A truck helper was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday morning on Old Kalka Road in Zirakpur. The deceased, identified as Chamkaur Singh, 46, was a resident of Klara village in Samana tehsil of Patiala district.
Initial reports indicate that the body was discovered near Raj Medical Store, close to a sugarcane depot where the truck was parked overnight. The truck driver, Rahul Kumar, who transported a load of sugarcane from Pune, Maharashtra, to Zirakpur, informed the police that Chamkaur Singh had joined him as a helper from Samana.
"After parking the truck around 10 pm on Thursday, we had dinner and went to sleep in the truck cabin," said Rahul. "In the morning, I noticed Chamkaur was missing. After searching the nearby area, I found him lying on the ground covered with a sheet. He was unresponsive."
Rahul immediately notified the local police. A team led by SHO Zirakpur Gagandeep Singh, along with forensic experts, rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The body was sent for a post-mortem.
Police officials said there were no immediate signs of injury on the body, and the circumstances surrounding the death are being treated as suspicious.
"We are investigating the matter from all possible angles," said SHO Gagandeep Singh. "At this point, we cannot rule out anything until we receive the post-mortem and forensic reports. We appeal to the public to come forward if they have any information related to the case." Police have registered a case.
