Ignou, MKITM join hands for tourism education
Lucknow: In a major step to uplift tourism education in Uttar Pradesh, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) and Manyawar Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management (MKITM) on Thursday signed an MoU to collaborate on training, research and academic programs in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The partnership will enable students to access industry-aligned courses, hands-on training, academic excursions, certifications, and practical exposure at MKITM's state-run facilities. The curriculum will be jointly designed by Ignou and MKITM, with a focus on enhancing employability.
State tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said, "This collaboration will open new doors for tourism education and equip our youth with the skills to thrive in this growing industry."
A joint coordination committee will oversee the execution of programs, ensuring quality and alignment with industry needs. The agreement is expected to benefit students seeking careers in both domestic and international tourism markets.
