Tiruchi district health authorities observed the World Malaria Day with an awareness programme held under the auspices of the Inamkulathur Government Primary Health Centre and KMC Institute of Paramedical Sciences at Navalur Kotapattu on Friday.

The programme was inaugurated by District Medical Officer G. Amritha, on the World Health Organisation’s theme ‘Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite’.

In her address, District Malaria Officer S. Thaiyalnayaki explained the causes, symptoms and treatment of malaria. She also focused on preventive measures to stop the spread of disease.

The assembled gathering took a pledge to prioritise the detection of malaria and to treat the disease as per the prevailing norms and protocols, an official press release said.

Officials said that Tiruchi district had no cases of malaria from January to March this year.
