A notorious house burglar involved in over 30 cases across the Cyberabad Commissionerate was arrested by the Jeedimetla police. The police seized stolen property worth ₹11.5 lakh.
The accused, Begari Venu Kumar, a 26-year-old auto driver from Suraram in Quthbullapur mandal, was identified through analysis of footage from 160 CCTV cameras, technical surveillance, and verification of known offenders’ database.
A native of Chevella in Vikarabad district, Kumar has an extensive criminal history with cases booked against him in many police stations in Cyberabad limits. He was also jailed multiple times and was also detained under the Preventive Detention Act for a year. His criminal record includes cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The arrest follows a complaint lodged by a resident of Jeedimetla on March 6 stating that gold and silver ornaments worth approximately ₹10 lakh were stolen from his brother-in-law’s residence.
At the time of arrest, police recovered gold and silver jewellery, cash, and a two-wheeler used in the commission of several offences. Kumar is also linked to burglary cases under investigation in Bachupally and Ghatkesar police stations.
