Pune: A four-year-old boy, Yash Ingole, drowned in a tank meant for drinking and bathing of buffaloes near Dhole Patil Farm Road in Kharadi around 9 pm on Tuesday.
The tank is located near a cowshed, according to Kharadi police. Police registered a case of accidental death on Wednesday morning.
Senior inspector Sanjay Chavan of Kharadi police said, "We received a complaint from the family late on Tuesday afternoon stating that Yash went missing and he could not be traced. Our team reached their home and combed the vicinity, especially the Kharadi main road. He could not be traced in the vicinity."
"Our team examined CCTV footage. One of the footages showed Yash walking towards the tank. We called the city fire brigade officials. The fire brigade used water pumps to drain the water tank. We found the boy motionless in the tank. He was taken to the Sassoon General Hospital where the post-mortem report confimed that he died due to drowning," Chavan said.
"We realised that Yash fell in the tank while playing near it," he said. "Yash's mother is a housewife and his father is a worker engaged with a private company," Chavan said.
