PSG-GRD Museum of Science and Technology, conceived as a springboard for innovations, inaugurated in Coimbatore

PSG-GRD Museum of Science and Technology, featuring state-of-the-art galleries and exhibits in the realms of energy, automobile and space, envisioned to draw students towards charting careers in the manufacturing sector, was inaugurated at a ceremony in the PSG iTech Campus at Neelambur on Thursday.

Lauding PSG Tech alumni for materialising the project, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson, HCL Tech, inaugurated the 30,000 square feet Museum named after G.R. Damodaran, visionary educationist and former principal of PSG College of Technology.

Ms. Roshini, in her address, exuded hope that students visiting the museum would gain hands-on exposure to cutting-edge scientific concepts.

The 30,000 square feet Museum spanning three floors has been conceived as a global standard science and technology hub, to serve as a center for invention, inspiration, and immersive learning, L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG and Sons’ Charities, said, presiding over the event.

The PSG and Sons’ Charities has provided the land and infrastructure valued at ₹18 crore for the Museum, while the alumni contributed the resources of equal value to foster scientific curiosity and nurture innovation through interactive and experiential learning environments.

Founder of HCL Shiv Nadar, illustrious alumnus, is the principal donor, having contributed ₹5 crore for the project.

The museum encompasses a Mobility Gallery showcasing the evolution of transportation; and Space and Astronomy Gallery.

Guest of Honour C. Vijayakumar, CEO and MD, HCL Tech, also an alumnus, said the Museum would bring about a paradigm shift in pursuit of scienctific and technological innovations by several thousands of students.

PSG Sons and Charities also unveiled its plan on the occasion for a second-phase development of the Museum with a Planetarium.
