Youth Congress workers protest against CM in Pathanamthitta

Published - April 24, 2025 08:14 pm IST - PATHANAMTHITTA

Youth Congress activists on Wednesday staged a black flag protest against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging government inaction in resolving the ongoing strike by Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs).

The protest unfolded as the Chief Minister left the Azhoor Guest House to attend a district-level review meeting held to mark the fourth anniversary of the State government.

The demonstrators, led by Youth Congress district president Vijay Induchudan and State secretary Reno P. Rajan, intercepted the Chief Minister’s convoy on the Pathanamthitta-Tazhoorkadavu road. Waving black flags, the activists briefly blocked the security vehicle before the police intervened.

The police forcibly removed the protesters, leading to heated exchanges between them. The protesters were subsequently taken into preventive custody and held until the Chief Minister left the district.
