11 families from Cuttack cancel trips: At least 11 families from Cuttack have cancelled their planned trips to Kashmir, citing safety concerns following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. tnn
"All our bookings were done, and we were excited, but after hearing about the attack, we decided not to take the risk," said Anupam Das, a resident of CDA Sector-6 who had planned the trip with his family.
Sneha Choudhury from Nandi Sahi, who had organised a trip for five family members, said, "We have elderly parents and kids travelling with us. After the news of the attack broke, our families were extremely worried," she said.
Many families, like the Pradhans from Mahanadi Vihar, are prioritising safety over their long-planned vacations.
"We had been planning this trip for months, but our children's safety comes first," said Rajesh Pradhan, who was set to travel with his wife and two teenage children.
Local travel agencies reported a surge in cancellation inquiries. "We received multiple calls since morning. More than 15 trips, including 11 family bookings, were cancelled in a single day," said Manoj Sahoo, manager of a Badambadi-based travel agency.
"For the last two years, we have been getting many bookings for Kashmir, especially during summer," said travel operator Sibu Rout. "Such incidents reverse the progress overnight."
