Rotary International Director-elect Muruganandam said on Wednesday that India had been officially shortlisted to host the Rotary International Convention in 2029 or 2031.
He told reporters here that it was a prestigious global event. It was a long wait for the Indian Rotarians to host the event in the country. It had raised hopes of organising the event in the country in the 120 years history of Rotary. The announcement had sparked immense excitement and pride among Indian Rotarians and, if selected, the convention would bring together over 25,000 delegates from across the globe, significantly boosting Rotary’s visibility and influence in the region.
Mr. Muruganandam said the city and venue of the proposed event would be known shortly.
