Meta has launched a new standalone app called Edits for mobile video creation. First teased by Instagram head Adam Mosseri in January, the app is now available for download.
Edits offers advanced editing tools, real-time performance insights, and direct sharing features—all optimised for mobile. It supports up to 10 minutes of footage, with features like frame-accurate timelines, clip-level edits, auto-enhance, green screen, and transitions.
Creators can export videos without watermarks and share them directly on Instagram, Facebook, or other platforms. The app also provides real-time metrics like skip rate to help creators improve performance.
Meta says the app was built in collaboration with creators to simplify the production process and provide flexibility beyond its platforms. New features in development include keyframe controls, AI effects, enhanced brand collaboration tools, and more fonts, transitions, filters, and royalty-free music.
The launch highlights Meta’s growing push to compete with platforms like TikTok and CapCut by offering creators more freedom and creative power.
