Lucknow Capitals faltered after a brisk start to post a modest 159/6 against Delhi Capitals in their IPL match in Lucknow on Tuesday.

Following an opening stand of 87, the hosts lost four wickets for just 23.

Ayush Badoni, who was brought in as an impact sub in place of Mitchell Marsh, then played a cameo of 36 in 21 balls.

Badoni began the final over of the innings with three successive boundaries off Mukesh Kumar before being castled off the next delivery.

That finally brought skipper Rishab Pant to the crease but he fell for a two-ball duck, giving Mukesh a four-wicket haul.

Openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh had earlier laid a solid platform for LSG after they were put in to bat by DC.

Markram was the more aggressive of the duo, reaching his fifty in just 30 balls. It was his fourth fifty in his last six innings for LSG.

The South African fell off the last ball of the 10th over, caught by Tristan Stubbs near the cover boundary off Dushmantha Chameera, after making 52 in 33 balls.

Mitchell Starc then struck a vital blow by removing the dangerous Nicholas Pooran who got an inside edge onto his stumps, falling for nine.

Abdul Samad, who smashed four sixes in the final over of LSG's innings against RR in their last match, was promoted to No. 4 this time.

But the move failed to click as Samad was caught and bowled by Mukesh Kumar for 2 in 8 balls.

Mukesh struck again in the same over, castling Marsh for 45 as LSG slumped to 110/4 at the end of 14 overs.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl.

DC skipper Axar Patel said they have made one change in their XI, with Sri Lankan pacer Chameera replacing Mohit Sharma.

LSG skipper Rishabh Pant said he would have chosen to bowl too, adding that they are going in with an unchanged side.

Delhi Capitals: Abishek Porel, Karun Nair, KL Rahul, Axar Patel (c), Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam, Mitchell Starc, Dushmantha Chameera, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar.
