Two persons were on Tuesday arrested near Jolarpet town in Tirupattur for snatching a gold chain from a woman head constable a few days ago.
The police said the arrested persons were identified as P. Vediappan, 38, a native of Krishnagiri, and M. Sathyamurthy, 31. Initial inquiry revealed that the victim K. Lakshmi, 45, was returning from work on a two-wheeler when the duo snatched her chain. In the impact, Ms. Lakshmi fell off the vehicle and sustained injuries. Special teams were formed to nab the suspects.
During a routine check near the bus terminus in Jolarpet, the police noticed the duo moving suspiciously. When questioned, they gave contradictory answers. They were brought to the police station where they admitted to the crime. The police recovered the chain and registered a case. The duo were lodged in a sub-jail in Tirupattur town.
