Collector felicitates Corporation officials over tax collection achievement

With a net tax collection rate of 81.58% achieved for the year 2024–25, making it the third-highest tax-collecting corporation in the State, Collector Raja Gopal Sunkara felicitated 58 Corporation officials and staff members for their contribution to this accomplishment.

A total of 4,27,338 tax assessments were issued in the last financial year, including vacant land tax, trade tax, water charges, solid waste management charges, underground drainage connection charges, and other taxes levied on residents and commercial establishments. The total tax demand stood at ₹106.87 crore, of which ₹87.19 crore was collected. Among the 24 Corporations under the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Erode Corporation ranked third in effective tax collection.

At a function held at the Corporation office on Tuesday, the Collector, in the presence of Mayor S. Nagarathinam and Corporation Commissioner (in-charge) and Deputy Commissioner K. Dhanalakshmi, presented certificates and awards to the officials and staff involved in the tax collection drive.
