Anurag: BJP has nothing to do with MP’s remark on CJI
Patna: Former Union minister and BJP neta, Anurag Thakur, on Monday said his party had nothing to do with the remark of Godda MP from Jharkhand, Nishikant Dubey, on the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna.
Earlier, BJP national president J P Nadda had also distanced his party from the state of Dubey against the CJI, maintaining that it was his personal view.
Talking to reporters at the Patna airport, Thakur said: "Our party president has clarified that the BJP has faith in the judiciary and it will continue to do so."
Thakur, who was here to pay a visit to the state BJP headquarters and also offer floral tributes to B R Ambedkar, refused to take any question on violence at Murshidabad in West Bengal, maintaining that he was on way to Kolkata and would make a statement there.
Thakur also slammed Congress and its netas, alleging that they not only "insulted and undermined the Constitution" by making amendments to it. He said the grand old party also "humiliated" Ambedkar, and former PM Indira Gandhi even imposed emergency in 1975 on the country.
Thakur also alleged that Congress netas "forced" Ambedkar to resign from the Union cabinet. He said even a cartoon published in NCERT text book in 2012 insulted Ambedkar.
"In contrast, it is the BJP and the Union govt, under PM Narendra Modi, which has honoured Ambedkar, by conferring on him the Bharat Ratna and display of his portrait in the Central Hall of Parliament. To add to it, the NDA govt developed five places associated with the life of Ambedkar," Thakur said, adding that Congress neta Rahul Gandhi has been insulting the country when he is abroad by blaming the EVMs.
Taking a jibe at the Grand Alliance in Bihar, he said there was no common leader of the alliance. He said the NDA would would return to power after assembly polls.
