Father, son allege assault by police

T'puram: A father and son duo alleged police assault while waiting for a bus in Kollam on Monday morning. Naseer, Congress Karikode mandalam president and his son Sayed, KSU district secretary, claim they were attacked by police, including Kollam East SI.
According to their complaint, the police officers who reached the spot in connection with another case confronted them and accused them of being drunk. When Naseer identified himself as Karikode mandalam president, the situation escalated. Both father and son were allegedly assaulted, with Sayed claiming he was thrown to the ground and stomped on. The assault reportedly continued at the police station. Meanwhile, police explained that the duo were obstructing police duty.
In response, the KSU district committee organized a protest march to the SP office. With the SP not in office, the KSU leaders later had a discussion with the ACP. ACP assured action, failing which the KSU leaders said they would proceed with further protests on Tuesday. TNN
