Villagers detain & beat B’deshis in Tripura
Agartala: Villagers of Nandalal Das Para of bordering Ishanpur under the Mohanpur sub-division of West Tripura have detained two Bangladeshi nationals, who were handed over to the BSF after being thrashed on Sunday.
Sources said Nandalal Das Para is very close to the Bangladesh border, and every year, Bangladeshi thieves sneak into the Indian territory, loot valuables and go back taking advantage of the dense bushes.
On Sunday morning, a farmer went to the village to pick vegetables and saw three strangers sitting next to the forest near the field. Being suspicious, the villagers gathered near the field and detained the strangers, the police said. One of them escaped and crossed the barbed wire fencing. The villagers handed the other two to the Border Guards, sources said. A source said they had hand axes, a star-cutting machine, and other tools, a BSF senior official said.
Meanwhile, in a joint operation based on confidential inputs, three Bangladeshi nationals — including a young woman — were apprehended from Agartala Railway Station on Saturday night on their way to Kolkata.
Officer-in charge of GRP, Agartala, Tapas Das said the arrested individuals have been identified as Kamrun Nesa (23), a Dhaha resident who is a Bangladeshi tout, Md Ismail Hossain (22) — resident of Chittagong, and Mohammad Nur Hossain (25), a Chittagong resident.
