Silver jubilee celebrated

PSR Engineering College, Sivakasi, celebrated its 25th silver jubilee anniversary. Marichamy, Dean, welcomed the gathering. The chief guest was Justice R. Mahadevan, Judge, Supreme Court. K. Radhakrishnan, IPS, was the guest of honour. In his address, Mr. Radhakrishnan, emphasised the importance of academic excellence and integrity. Justice Mahadevan, in his address, said outspoken words, missed time, and missed opportunities can never be regained. He urged students to remember this as they navigate their future after graduation. He also distributed prizes to the toppers.

SSM Higher Institute for Learning and Teaching (SSM-HILT) and SSMIET Foundation for Incubation (SSMIET-FOI) initiatives were inaugurated at SSM Institute of Engineering and Technology, Dindigul, on April 15. In his address, Principal D. Senthil Kumaran laid emphasis on the importance of teacher empowerment through innovative teaching methodologies. The chief guest, Ramalatha Marimuthu, Director of iExplore Foundation for Sustainable Development, was honoured by K. Shanmugavel, chairman, and Shriram Mukund, Executive Director, SSM Group of Mills. The initiatives aim to enhance academic excellence, foster entrepreneurship, and drive societal impact.

Theni Melapettai Hindu Nadargal Uravinmurai Nadar Saraswathi College of Education celebrated its 20th Annual Day on April 16. Vijayalakshmi Veeramani, actress, Chennai (alumna of TMHNU NS Girls Higher Secondary School 2005 – 11 batch), was the chief guest. In her address, she said teachers were the ‘second parents’ and they only boosted the self-confidence of the students, thereby lead them to their achievements in life. Principal J. Beulah Rajini presented the annual report. First three toppers - S.Swathi (Physical Science); K.Srinidhi (Mathematics); and A.Swetha (English) were honoured.

KV students make their mark

Students of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mandapam, have made their mark in regional-level competitions, securing spots in the national-level events in judo and volleyball. In the judo competition held at KV Golden Rock, Tiruchi, on April 17, Kevin Cruz (XII-A) and Kanakaraj Shakti (XI-B) showed exceptional skill and determination and were selected for the national-level judo competition. In the volleyball tourney held at KV AFS Sulur on April 19, Bhavadharani (10-B), G. Poorvika (10-A) and Karmugilan (9-A) secured spots in the national-level volleyball tournament. Principal R. John congratulated the students and coaches Ankur Prakash (PHE), R. Venkat and T.S. Vasudevan.

The Department of Economics of GTN Arts College, Dindigul, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Environmental Advisory for Sustainable Trust (EAST), Tirunelveli, marking a significant step towards collaborative academic and research initiatives. Principal S. Saravanan presided over. P. Ravichandran, HoD, and G. Paramasivan, chairman of EAST Trust, signed the MoU. The agreement outlines a mutual commitment to organising seminars, workshops, collaborative research and publication activities, extension programmes, and staff exchange initiatives with foreign universities. P. Satheeshkumar, Assistant Professor, had made the arrangements. S. Arun, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
