Patna: Chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena on Monday asked the officials to expedite the process to fill around 50,000 vacant posts in 10 departments of the state govt.
Chairing a review meeting with the nodal officers of various departments at the main secretariat here, Meena said during the presentations given at the departmental level, it came to the notice that there are 49,591 vacancies across various positions in 10 departments.
The vacancies are available in the departments namely food and consumer protection, panchayati raj, rural development, water resources, agriculture, minor water resources, animal and fishery resources, cooperation, environment, forest and climate change, and sugar cane industries. Meena asked the nodal officers of these 10 departments to speed up recruitment against all vacant posts.
The chief secretary further instructed all departments to conduct an energy consumption audit to reduce unnecessary energy usage. "All departments have been specifically asked to focus on this. It has been suggested to increase the use of LEDs in all govt buildings and offices to reduce energy consumption. Compared to regular bulbs, the LEDs can reduce energy usage by 80%," a senior official who attended the meeting said.
"Govt schools and hospitals also have been instructed to conduct energy audits and initiate measures to reduce excessive electricity consumption," the official said.
Meena further issued strict instructions to all departments to take stern action against officials who perform poorly. He directed that such officials be identified, and departmental action be taken immediately to instil fear and ensure no leniency is shown in acting against wrongdoers.
Meena asked the general administration department (GAD) to prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) for taking solid action in cases of viral videos involving officials. He also directed the departments to fully utilise the funds allocated under the central schemes.
He asked all departments to expedite the disposal of pending court cases. He asked for a focused approach to address the reasons for the pendency and taking steps for their swift disposal.
