Belagavi: "Being a CM, I am trying to bring equality in society and bring the suppressed communities to the mainstream. I am trying to create equal opportunities for all by distributing power and wealth. You (people) need to understand this," said chief minister
Siddaramaiah.
He was speaking after inaugurating the centenary celebration of the Golla (Yadav) Hanabar community and the 16th incarnation programme of Yadavanand Swamiji organised at Chikodi town on Sunday.
"We got political democracy with the country gaining freedom in 1947, but not educational and social democracy. In 1950, when the Indian Constitution was introduced, Dr BR Ambedkar stated that there was a need for social and educational democracy. If injustice continued, the suppressed communities will demolish the building of democracy," Siddaramaiah said. He called upon all the deprived communities to get an education and recalled the mantra - educate, organise, and protest - given by Dr BR Ambedkar.
He said castes were formed based on professions, and Gollas or Yadavs are basically come from the profession of rearing cattle. However, including Gollas, the youths of all deprived communities should focus on education and take up higher posts. As far as the demand for forming the Yadav development corporation is concerned, he said, "I will discuss with the leaders of the community and decide on it." Meanwhile, he advised the Yadav leaders to focus on the organising the community.
District minister Satish Jarkiholi, urban development minister Byrathi Suresh, MP Priyanka Jarkiholi, MLAs Ashok Pattan, Raju Kage, Ganesh Hukkeri, MLC Nagaraj Yadav, former MLA Poornima, and Pushpa Yadavanand Swamiji were present.
