A day after a minor fire broke out at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad, Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare, R.V. Karnan, visited the hospital on Sunday, April 20, to review the situation and monitor the safety protocols in place.

According to an official release, the fire was traced to a short circuit in the electrical panel board on the fifth floor of the trauma block, near the auditorium. The affected area, it clarified, was a non-patient zone, and there was no risk to patients or hospital staff.

NIMS Director Dr. N. Bheerappa underscored that the hospital prioritises fire safety and conducts regular drills and training sessions to ensure staff are equipped to handle emergencies.
