Former Karnataka State Police Chief and 1981 batch IPS officer Om Prakash, 68, was found murdered at his H.S.R. Layout residence in Bengaluru on Sunday (April 20, 2025) evening. His wife, Pallavi, has emerged as the key suspect in the case and has been detained by the police for questioning.

Om Prakash was stabbed over 10 times in his abdomen, chest and hands, and was dead in his living room, by the time police rushed to the spot. A kitchen knife was used, sources said.

“Initial investigation suggests that things might be internal in nature. No arrests have been made yet. We are waiting for the deceased’s son to lodge a complaint. It seems some sharp weapon has been used, which led to blood loss and death,” said Vikas Kumar Vikas, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), Bengaluru.

Om Prakash was from Champaran district, Bihar, and a 1981 batch IPS officer. He served as DG&IGP of Karnataka from 2015 and retired in 2017.
