Panchkula: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday inaugurated the much-awaited Ghaggar river bridge, connecting sectors 20-21 with 24-26. This will cut the time taken to travel between Panchkula and Peer Muchalla, thereby easing traffic congestion at Tau Devi Lal Stadium bridge and Majri Chowk bridge. The bridge was built at a cost of Rs 50 crore.
The CM also laid the foundation stone of two dispensaries in Sector 28 and 31 at a cost of around Rs 5 crore, and a gram sachivalaya in Barwala's Kanauli village at a cost of Rs 74,38,000. Apart from this, he also announced Rs 5 crore for development works in the villages of Panchkula assembly constituency.
He said the bridge on the Ghaggar river was constructed by Haryana Urban Development Authority. This bridge is 360 meters long and 16 meters wide. Now it will be easy to reach Zirakpur, Rajpura, Patiala, and Mohali airports from this bridge. This bridge will act as a shortcut, especially for those people who travel to the South Sectors of Panchkula, Zirakpur, or the South Sectors of Chandigarh. This will reduce the distance for people by about 5-7 km and will also provide relief from traffic jams. This bridge is a part of the PR-7 ring road connecting Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. When this ring road is built, not only Panchkula but also Chandigarh will get relief from traffic pressure.
The CM said this is the third bridge connecting the sectors across Ghaggar in Panchkula. Apart from sectors 25, 26, 27, 28, and 31, people coming from Barwala-Ramgarh will also benefit from the opening of this bridge. He said the dispensary building of Sector 28 will be built on 1.3 acres of land and the dispensary building of Sector 31 will be built on 1.2 acres of land. Both these buildings will be completed in 12 months. With their construction, better health facilities will be available to the people of Panchkula.
